BYLAWS

Chapter I: GENERAL RULES

Section 1: Name and Affiliation

a. This VOA shall be affiliated with the Northwest Texas Council, Boy Scouts of America, and shall be under the administrative authority of the Scout Executive and Council Venturing Committee.

Section 2: Election and Terms of Officers

a. Elections for VOA officers will be held each year during the general assembly meeting of the VOA. General assembly meetings are quarterly.

b. Eligible applicants must submit an application by April 15th. The council Key 3 of each tier may choose to eliminate candidates for the Presidency of their tier if they deem that the pool of candidates is too large to effectively conduct the selection process. All elected officers and advisors assume office on June 1st and serve until their successors are chosen and installed.

c. In the event of a vacancy of the President, the Vice President of Administration will become the acting President.

d. The VOA officers will be chosen by a majority vote of those voting members present and voting.

Section 3: Training requirements

a. All elected officers and advisors must, prior to installation, complete Crew Officer Orientation. Anyone who fails to complete this program will have their position declared vacant.

b. The Council Venturing Committee may make rules exempting certain persons from the training requirement.

Section 4: Impeachment

a. The Council Venturing Committee may remove an officer, by two-thirds (2/3) vote; provided that an absolute majority of the committee’s membership is present. A person so removed is ineligible to hold and enjoy any office or advisory position within the VOA. This disability may be removed by a two-thirds majority vote of the Council Venturing Committee.
