Welcome to the Greenbelt District web pages. Greenbelt is a proud operating arm of the Northwest Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The district encompasses 9 counties in North Texas (Archer, Baylor, Cottle, Foard, Hardeman, King, Knox, Throckmorton and Wilbarger) and the cities of Iowa Park and Electra in Wichita County. District Committee Meetings are the 3rd Thursday of every month at the Troop 130 Scout Hut in Vernon, Texas from 6 - 7 PM Come join your DE for coffee or lunch. This is an informal meeting where Mike Mitchell will bring out books, patches, new information, etc. This will also be a time for any volunteer to come and ask questions and have a chat with Mike. Hope to see you there. The event is set from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, April 17, at the First United Methodist Church.
The public is invited to attend, and there is no admission charge. The event is sponsored by VFW Post 4747. A day of fun competition is scheduled as Cub Scouts race pinewood derbies, participate in the Raingutter Regatta and run against the clock in the Pushmobile. Meanwhile, Scout Patrols and Troops will test their cooking talents as they cook up pots of mouth-watering chili in the annual chili cookoff. Scouts will prepare their favorite recipes on site with brave members of VFW Post 4747 serving as judges. Scout Troops and Patrols will also compete against each other in the annual Scout Skills. Awards will be presented to winners in the various contests. There will also be other games and activities during the day, and a concession stand will be available.
