James E West

Wanted: NEW JAMES E. WEST FELLOWS in 2011-2012

What kind of legacy in Scouting will you leave?
James E. West was the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of  America.  He served in that position for more than three decades.  The West Fellowship award is bestowed on individuals for gifts of $1,000 and up in cash or marketable securities to our Council Endowment Fund.

Many individuals and corporations will also make these gifts either on behalf of someone else- such as in honor of an Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver recipient, a retirement, a special accomplishment, or anniversary-or in memory of a special individual. If an institution is truly “the lengthened shadow of one man,” it is more than fitting that the BSA honor James E. West’s major contributions to Scouting in such a significant way.

This is an excellent “entry level” step for further involvement and commitment to our council endowment effort. The initial $1,000 gift could be counted toward the minimum Scouting Heritage Society gift ($10,000) or as part of an additional outright, planned gift, bequest, or pledge. The gift must be in addition to and not replace or diminish the donor’s annual Friends of Scouting support.

“Never measure your generosity by what you give, but rather by what you have left.”
